A Wild Iceland Elopement Editorial at Skógafoss
Iceland has a way of making everything feel raw, powerful, and deeply emotional.
This elopement editorial took place at Skógafoss waterfall — one of Iceland’s most iconic and awe-inspiring landscapes — and was part of a creative shoot co-hosted by Desert Rose Creative alongside Natalie of Roses & Reeds. With mist rising from the falls, wind moving through the valley, and endless green stretching in every direction, the setting felt wild, intimate, and completely unforgettable.
Why Faux Florals Make Sense in Iceland
For this editorial, I chose to design faux florals — a decision rooted in both practicality and intention. Iceland’s climate, strict import regulations, and unpredictable weather make fresh florals incredibly challenging for destination elopements. Faux florals allow couples to have beautiful, intentional design without compromising logistics, sustainability, or travel restrictions.
The florals were designed to feel soft and romantic against Iceland’s dramatic landscape — layered with movement, color, and texture that echoed the surrounding mossy greens, dark stone, and misty light. The goal was always realism and emotion first: florals that photographed beautifully and felt at home in the environment.
Sydney & Adam
Sydney and Adam brought such an ease and authenticity to the shoot. Their connection felt grounded and real — quiet moments, shared glances, and natural movement that made the editorial feel less styled and more like a true elopement unfolding.
Against the power of Skógafoss, their presence added softness and intimacy, reminding us that even in the most dramatic landscapes, love can feel calm and centered.
Hosting Creative Space in Iceland
Co-hosting this shoot with Natalie of Roses & Reeds was about creating space for storytelling in one of the most inspiring places on earth. Iceland invites you to slow down, adapt, and let the landscape lead — and that philosophy guided every part of this editorial.
This shoot is a reminder that destination elopements don’t have to sacrifice beauty for logistics. With thoughtful planning and intentional design, couples can create something meaningful, romantic, and deeply personal — even in the most remote locations.
