Modern Desert Editorial at the Palm Springs Windmills

The Palm Springs windmills are one of the most iconic backdrops in the California desert — expansive, graphic, and effortlessly cool. This editorial shoot took place in the windmill fields just outside Palm Springs and was part of a workshop hosted by Stephanie Marie Education, bringing together creatives for a fashion-forward take on desert wedding design.

For this shoot, I focused on florals that felt sculptural and intentional rather than overly soft. Warm terracotta tones, muted peaches, toffee roses, and textural blooms were designed to complement the stark desert landscape and crisp white vintage car. The florals were styled to feel editorial and bold — letting shape, color, and scale do the talking against the open horizon and repeating lines of the windmills.

This area is such a unique option for couples drawn to a modern desert elopement or an unconventional Palm Springs wedding. The contrast of vintage elements, fashion-driven styling, and expansive desert scenery makes the windmills an unforgettable setting for couples who want something unexpected and visually striking.
